Migrant Leaders has won the Social Mobility Project Award at the prestigious 2023 Inclusive Awards, held at The Hurlingham Club, London on Tuesday December 5, 2023.
The Inclusive Awards - organised by Inclusive Companies and sponsored by EON and EMCOR UK - is the only awards ceremony that rewards organisations and individuals for harnessing a truly diverse workforce. It recognises the significant efforts of those who have excelled in their commitment to equality and inclusion across all strands of diversity.
The glittering event was hosted by diversity champion Sean Fletcher, best known for presenting on ITV’s Good Morning Britain and the BBC’s Countryfile, Sunday Morning Live and Songs of Praise.
The Social Mobility Project Award recognises organisations and the projects they have developed and implemented to encourage social mobility and community involvement from all backgrounds. The entries to this category were assessed by an esteemed independent panel of judges from diverse cultural and business backgrounds. Together they looked beyond policies and practices to identify those individuals and organisations who could demonstrate they have achieved true diversity, inclusion, equality and equity in their workplace or community.
Award-winning EDI champion Laks Mann FRSA was on the judging panel drawing on his expertise as a National Talent Development Strategist at the National College of Policing, Founder of ‘Gaysians’, London Mayor EDI Advisor, Leadership Fellow at Windsor Castle and Board Trustee at South Asian Heritage Month and caba. “It was a particularly difficult task to choose one winner, with tough decisions as you're having to score so many amazing organisations,” says Laks. “There are so many close calls and it's not easy to pick the winner and the judging panel wants to give a massive shout out to all the shortlisted nominees. Ultimately, we believed that Migrant Leaders provided a shining example of bringing out the best in young people, showcasing their remarkable talents and positive contributions with benefits being felt far and wide."
