We are thrilled by our first collaboration with First Mode, a 3 day internship focused on sustainability in heavy industries. We brought some of our most talented and innovative Migrant Leaders engineering and STEM students to First Mode.
This immersive internship started with an introduction to the sustainability problem we are trying to solve and multiple technology, modelling and presentation workshops to enable them to pull together and present a business plan using their own idea. During this internship they also heard career stories from First Mode professionals and had the opportunity to meet them, ask questions and network. They were also be introduced to and heard the First Mode Chief Executive talk about what he does as a CEO.

Migrant Leaders Founder & CEO Elham Fardad continues on a roadshow of visits to schools, colleges and universities across Britain to speak to educators and disadvantaged young people. She emphasises that “We must continue to understand challenges and aspirations in communities and to leverage the relationships we have across the corporate sectors to connect communities and schools with industry. Social mobility will come from cross sector collaboration.”
This approach was further boosted by inviting all Migrant Leaders mentors to a webinar, introducing the school leaders and students at Wembley High Technology College to Migrant Leaders mentors. This resulted in many mentors volunteering further by going into the school to speak to students. Elham Fardad plans to continue this approach of elevating schools such as those part of the Shared Learning Trust, where she is a Governor
Migrant Leaders is proud to continue working in partnership with the NSPCC to present our two-part Safeguarding briefing for our Mentors
In Part 1 we cover the legislative context and look at why Safeguarding is important for our Migrant Leaders mentors and for mentees. We also look at the blocks that prevent young people from talking about their concerns and others from hearing them. Finally we consider how mentors can take care of themselves in the Safeguarding context.
Part 2 covers Migrant Leaders’ procedures for Safeguarding and provides an opportunity to work with other mentors to look at possible scenarios.

We are pleased to share the news that Migrant Leaders is collaborating with the Financial Reporting Council!
Our first collaboration was a one-week onsite quality work experience for A Level students at the London office of the Financial Reporting Council.
The FRC promotes transparency and integrity in business by setting codes and standards for accounting and actuarial work; reviewing the quality of corporate reporting and audit; and taking enforcement action where necessary.
We designed this opportunity especially for all A Level students wanting to gain a high-quality work experience. We had an action packed and interactive week for the students including working in teams on a project, learning about a senior manager’s career journey, advice on planning their careers and developing communication and presentation skills.
